Ultra-high-Q small mode volume toroid microcavities on a chip

We present microfabrication of ultra-high-Q microcavities on a chip. These toroidal microcavities possess Q-factors in excess of 400 million and furthermore achieve a Q-factor to mode volume ratio of more than 106(n/lambda)3
