Halo Structure of 19C via the (p,d) Reaction

Abstract. We have investigated the heaviest one-neutron halo candidate, the 19C nucleus. Few-body model calculations of cross-section angular distributions for the 19C(p,d)18C reaction together with test calculations carried out for the 17C(p,d)16C reaction at a low incident energy are presented for different possible halo-neutron configurations. We show that there is a clear distinction in particular between ln = 0 and ln = 2 halo transfers. The sensitivity of the cross sections to the assumed 19C single-neutron separation energy is discussed.
