New possibilities for the investigation of TRI violation by the use of aligned nuclei

Abstract The methods to investigate time-reversal invariance (TRI) violation using a polarized neutron beam and a polarized or aligned nuclear target are briefly discussed. A new method of dynamic nuclear alignment (DNA) of nuclei with a quadrupole moment is proposed. An implementation of this method could significantly increase the number of aligned nuclei accessible for TRI violation experiments and for other physics investigations.
