Skyrmion solutions by generalization of the Atiyah-Manton ansatz.

We generalize the approach of Atiyah and Manton for generating Skyrmion configurations from instantons. The result is a series whose parameters are found directly from the chiral angle equation. The series converges rapidly to the exact solution for a class of the Skyrme-like models (including the Skyrme model itself) but describes with less accuracy other types of models. We describe the procedure and discuss its advantages and limitations.
