The pole heavy-quark masses in the Hamiltonian approach

AbstractFrom the fact that nonperturbative self-energy contribution CSE to the heavy-meson mass is small, $$C_{SE} (b\bar b) = 0$$ and $$C_{SE} (c\bar c) \cong - 40$$ MeV, strong restrictions on the pole masses mb and mc are obtained. The analysis of the $$b\bar b$$ and the $$c\bar c$$ spectra with the use of the relativistic (string) Hamiltonian gives mb(2-loop)=4.78±0.05 GeV and mc(2-loop)=1.39±0.06 GeV, which correspond to the $$\overline {MS} $$ running masses $$\bar m_b (\bar m_b ) = 4.19 \pm 0.04$$ GeV and $$\bar m_c (\bar m_c ) = 1.14 \pm 0.05$$ GeV.
