Department of Physics and Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Science, Australian National University, ACT 0200, Australia(July 14, 2011)We propose an optical method for increasing the numberof atoms in a pair of dilute gas Bose-Einstein condensates. The method uses laser-driven Raman transitions which scat-ter atoms between the condensate and non-condensate atomfractions. For a range of condensate phase differences there isdestructive quantum interference of the amplitudes for scat-tering atoms out of the condensates. Because the total atomscattering rate into the condensates is unaffected the conden-sates grow. This mechanism is analogous to that responsiblefor optical lasing without inversion. Growth using macro-scopic quantum interference may find application as a pumpfor an atom laser.03.75.Fi,42.50.Vk,05.30.Jp,32.80.Pj
